Weaving Currents
Weaving Currents is an ongoing interview series of artists whose work draws on their South Asian Heritage. The series was born out of a collaboration between myself and artist Clio Lloyd Jacob and was initiated at Cambridge Artworks and Artspace in Cambridge.
Weaving Currents is an attempt to create a platform where artists can speak with depth and specificity about their work, their influences, and the cultural contexts that shape them—not as representatives of a monolithic "South Asian experience," but as individuals with distinct practices and histories.

The third in the series of interviews in the series titled Weaving Currents. A collaborative series between artists Clio Lloyd Jacob and Mansi Shouche placed in Cambridge Artspace at Cambridge. In this series focusing on artists of South Asian origin, Mansi talks to Pakistani artist Paaras Abbas. Paaras has a background in Anthropology which organically evolved into a creative career. In the talk, Paaras shares some of her recent textile artwork and discusses the sustainable Pakistani craft ecologies that inspire her practice, including her journey towards creating a zero-waste studio.

This is the second in the Weaving Currents interview series. A collaborative series based at Cambridge Artworks, Cambridge between artists Clio Lloyd Jacob and Mansi Shouche, which focuses on artists with a connection to South Asia. In this episode Mansi talks to textile artist Tanvi Kant. Tanvi shares about her work in informed and influenced by her cultural heritage including linguistic influences, her slow and meditative techniques based on repetition. Her upcycling of discarded sari's, an Indian 9 yard garment, to sharing her organic gravitation towards ceramics. They also talk about community workshops, a significant aspect of Tanvi's large oeuvre of work.
